Maintaining Balance
Maintaining balance requires finding balance. Slowing down to the very second when the mind is racing with thoughts like a waterfall. Balancing brings the mind back to the body in the present moment. To maintain balance, practice frequently.Pause. Be present for 10 seconds. Notice our senses, what's happening around us, what's happening inside us, for those 10 seconds. For that's the only thing that's really happening. The past is already finished. Nothing can be changed or done about that. The future, the next moment, is rich and ripe with possibilities. This 10-second practice enables us to experience the next moment fully. I have found the act of balancing within those 10 seconds brings yoga off the mat and meditation into action. Try warrior 3 using a wall or a tree to help steady the body. With practice comes equilibrium.
